Comprehensive Psycho-Educational Assessment

What to Expect

Comprehensive psycho-educational assessments identify concerns that may be impacting an individual's academic performance. These typically include tests of cognitive functioning, academic skills, executive functioning, memory, and/or emotional functioning.  A psycho-educational assessment typically includes: 

  • Review of developmental, medical, behavioral, and family history

  • Review of report cards, teacher feedback, and results from any previous standardized testing

  • Assessment of cognitive abilities using comprehensive, standardized measures (including verbal and nonverbal abilities, working memory, and processing speed)

  • Assessment of academic achievement in the areas of reading, writing, math, and language abilities

  • Assessment of executive functioning  skills, including attention, self-inhibition, flexible thinking, task initiation, and self-monitoring
